Loud thunderclaps in a thunderstorm on 17 feb 2022 at around 7 pm utc+11. Recorded and processed in audacity.

Some atmos i took for a recent video. I didn't edit out me fumbling with the mic (tascam dr07) but it's a solid 2 minutes of outside sounds. You can hear little drops of rain and a wind chime, as well as cars driving through puddles down the street.

This is the sound of a storm drain emptying into a gutter. My street floods in heavy rain, giving the storm drain a river-like sound. I placed my roland r-05 on the sidewalk just above the drain. It babbles and splashes like a river, but it is on a residential city street. I recorded it at 2am, so there are few vehicles in the recording though several faintly pass by in the background. Enjoy. :).

Inspired from the sniper scene in "saving private ryan,". These are sound recordings of a heavy storm that entered los angeles. A compressor and equalizer was added to emphasize the rain in the gutter. Used to your preference, add rocks, gun loading, battle etc and you'll have an award winning film. An early spring bird-recording trip turned into a surprise, steady rain. (*actually, it should not have been a surprise, i just was too lazy to check the weather before i went out exploring nature!). I set up my zoom h4n recorder partially under a picnic table and recorded this wonderful, peaceful light rain falling in a small field of very large white pines, which were growing on a penninsula of a small lake. Every now and then you will hear a bird singing out. Again, recorded using my handy zoom h4n recorder with the built-in stereo microphones. Enjoy. Kevin.

It was recorded at low level by the raindrop. There was a woman talking on the phone behind recorder. Raindrop sounds, ambient noise outside library. Stereorecorded with h4n.

Actually is not rain. It is snow melting down from a roof, falling into puddles and onto a corrugated roof. I placed the microphone (zoom h2) on different spots in 4channel sorround mode. I just normalized them and mixed them into stereo. Thats it. In this case the mic is placed on the ground in the middle of the puddles and the roof. This is a recording of me, walking on the sidewalk of a road during heavy rain and wind. The cars passing me is driving through the water. I am using a røde blimp with deadcat in my hand, containing a sennheiser mkh 416 and a ambient ate 308 emesser in a ms-stereo setup. The recorder that i use is a zoom f6, but the ms-stereo decoding is done in pro tools in post. 32bit float 48khz.

June thunder storm recorded from my back door, i used a beat up flip camera isolated the sound in movie maker and cleaned it up as best as i could in audacity.

1 hour of hurricane hermine from florida's west coast on august 31st, 2016 using a zoom h4n pro recorder. Mostly rain for the first 20 minutes,then increases and decreases in intensity with the storm bands passing through. Occasional thunder getting heavy about a half hour into it. . Some nearby lightning strikes followed by the sound of emergency sirens and power line crews passing by, add color.

I recorded my whistle with this one too. I have the ability to make reverse whistling sounds. I just killed background noises in my bedroom using my audio editing program and i added a reverb for that echo in the forest sound. This is a bird making different sounds.

Sound of a single droplet. The standard sound for like a leaky faucet or a drop hitting a puddle or bucket of water. I actually made this sound with my mouth and tapping my cheek at the same time, but it is a very convincing drop sound, which can easily be looped at the speed you want for that "continuous drop" sound in the background.

Early spring thunderstorm in north central oklahoma recorded on 05/02/2018 starting at about 9:30 pm cdt. Recorded in the middle of the country by placing a mic outside the man cave window of my house. The storm starts with light rain and some medium distance thunder. At about 4:00 mins the wind starts to pick up and by 5 mins the wind sound drowns out everything else (50-60 mph gusts). By 6:00 mins the wind is fading as the storm front passes. By 9:00 mins it’s just soft rain and occasional thunder. At about 13:00 mins, the thunder starts picking up a bit. At about 17:00 mins it starts raining harder again, with occasional thunder, until the end. A couple of human noises were edited out, and noise reduction was applied.

Storm surround.

Another recording of rain and thunder, but in some ways a better one. This one is a surprisingly big crack and rumble preceded and followed by a nice sounding rain. I made this by positioning a stereo-matched pair of akg c451b condenser mics in an exaggerated x-y configuration (a wider stereo field) and aiming them out of my open window. The mics went into a universal audio 2-610 preamp, an apogee duet 2, and then ableton at 48khz and 24 bits. I believe i had the mics set flat, and there was no post processing (though i was mightily tempted to upload the much-better-sounding eqed and compressed files) so that you can fine tune it to suit your needs. You'll notice that the loudest parts of the thunder boom clipped the input, but, due to the pleasant and forgiving nature of vacuum tubes, the clipping sounds more compressed than distorted. Feel free to use this sound in any commercial or artistic work! you do not need to credit me.

Hail comes inthis was a strange storm. Tons of lightning, but only distant thunder. The rain was nearly falling vertically. Audio description: may 20, 2014. Hail comes in and pounds a deck outside for about a minute or so, then fades and raindrops themselves take prominence. The wind picks up, so you can hear wind chimes going at it and some deep rolling thunder far in the background. If you’ve experienced high winds before, it will probably sound scary to you at volume. Recorded with a tascam dr-05 with a dead cat and no low cut. I got the mics as close to an open window as i could without being ridiculous. Cropped and faded in and out in audacity. No other modifications, so you’ll have to normalize it and equalize to your liking. Might be useful as a “heavy rain” sound, since the hail kind of sounds like that anyway.

Rode nt4 mic with a rycote wind muff on (slight attenuation of the higher frequencies is noticeable to my ears) sitting on a chair under an awning on my porch. I hit record slightly too late to catch the first couple of bell rings, but got most of it. First we hear the church signal 8pm, then we hear the courthouse do the same thing. Also some wind in the trees right above the mic, some rain, a bit of thunder, and some cars in a small town. Also a huge truck with loud engine that sounds almost like thunder towards the end, in fact it was mixed with thunder at one moment. Captured with maudio delta1010lt soundcard.

Not just any thunder this! this is the spanish variety and anyone who has been around a spanish thunderstorm will know what i mean. This field recording was made from my villa and this is both rural and situated between two mountain ranges. So, you've got the thunder, the acoustics, the sound of the rain and the birds in the nearby trees. If you listen closely enough then you might hear the sound of the breeze through the palm trees. I captured this sound on my canon powershot a460 digital camera. It was a horrible night, with strong winds and heavy rain. I went to my garden shed and positioned my camera at the small window inside my shed as there is a small hole in the right hand corner of the window, and through this small hole the wind blows through it making this whistle sound, almost like a flute.
